Kijani (Tim Watanabe) started the When Furballs Strike series back in December 2008, looking to bring some of the local anthropomorphics fans together for a fun bowling time. A total of 40 furries showed up to the first meet, exceeding any expectations, and the meet has continued to grow steadily ever since. Over the years Kijani has attempted to keep the meet fresh and exciting by adding the popular prize raffle, where hundreds of dollars of gifts are given away at every meet. Other positive changes over the years include bringing in live DJs, hosting charity auctions, and organizing an official after-bowling group dinners at a local buffet restaurant as well as pizza parties on-site.
Kijani has been around bowling most of his adult life, competing in the collegiate ranks with the University of Washington Huskies from 2003-2005, earning one singles title. He has 13 perfect 300 games to his credit, one USBC-sanctioned 800 series, and has cashed on the Professional Bowler’s Association (PBA) Regional Tour.
In his spare time, Kijani enjoys photography, racquet sports, word games, knocking down wood with heavy spheres, and performing in fursuit for community and charity events in the Seattle area. in September 2013, he founded Emerald City Critters, a nonprofit character entertainment & performance organization, to further that cause. He is extremely active on YouTube, and enjoys making videos from fursuit outings and events, conventions, and of course When Furballs Strike meets. Kijani is also on staff performing publications editing, digital media and charity event roles at Anthrocon, Anthro NW and BLFC, and has been named Guest of Honor at Biggest Little Fur Con 2014 held in Reno, NV and Anthro NW 2019 in Seattle near his hometown.
Kijani would like to thank the staff at Kenmore Lanes for allowing WFS to happen and for being gracious hosts, as well as everyone who lends a paw towards helping make the meet a success, particularly Hubcap and ChaosReign whose assistance at the Reg Desk has proven crucial for maintaining some semblance of sanity on meet days.
Just prior to When Furballs Strike 19, Kijani took over the Lead Organizer role for FurLife: Pacific Northwest Furries to save one of the largest Furry Meetup groups in the world from disappearing into oblivion.
